Home from home

Going to Orlando/Kissimmee, still feels like going home sometimes. But when we lived in Kissimmee and we came to visit Jacksonville it always felt like we were going home too. And whenever we go to St. Augustine, we feel like we are going home, and when I go to Fort Myers I feel like I am going home. Its all quite complicated, but it was nice to be in Orlando, although I still feel a little nostalgic and homesick when we are there!! We had such a fun trip with my parents for the Scrapbook Expo. www.scrapbookexpo.com We weren't much help to my mom, but we had all sorts of fun adventures. I shared in an earlier post about the crazy ducks at The Peabody. The next day we wandered around Downtown Disney - that's the area with all sorts of fun shops, and restaurants - you can find ALL things Disney without having to go INTO Disney. (It's a great free date too!) Bryce got to watch a crazy jumping fountain, which he LOVED. We got the biggest best mocha frappachino from Ghiradelli's, and Bryce and Eric rode the carousel. Later on we went to this crazy warehouse store in the middle of NOWHERE, that gets all sorts of old Disney stuff - everything from ride equipment to hotel icebuckets to styrofoam cups from the parks. You just sort of dig through and see what you can find. We didn't buy anything, but it was quite a fun place! www.mousesurplus.com You can check out their Ebay store and website! We also had dinner at a very fun restaurant called Cafe Tu Tu Tango www.cafetututango.com Artists sell their work at the restaurant, where it COVERS the walls. Artists also work there, so as you eat you can watch a painter paint, and in the evenings musicians come in to play their tunes! The food was yummy, and we had a good time!
Its good to be home now, and the big challenge now is to get Bryce back to sleeping well after a vacation AND a time change! Enjoy the pictures!

Here I am with Poppy, at the hotel, after we got into town.  Posted by Picasa

Here I am in my stroller at the scrapbook expo. Mommy gave me stickers to play with, to try and cheer me up. She put that rain cloud sticker on my forehead because she said it represented my mood - I didn't really get it. But then I forgot it was there, and wore that raincloud on my forehead all morning long! It did make all the scrapbook ladies look at me and smile though.  Posted by Picasa

Here is Mimi at her crazy scrapbooking expo. I tell ya, these ladies (and some guys) and their scrapbook stuff. I just don't get it. And its really loud and busy in there - I am not a fan of scrapbook conventions. Posted by Picasa

We went to The Peabody Hotel, just to visit, because it is right across the street from the convention center. Every day these crazy ducks come running down the red carpet to take a swim in their fountain. Then at the end of the day they go back upstairs to their room. Seriously!!! It was totally wacky, and I loved it! Posted by Picasa

Can you BELIEVE this!!!!!??? Posted by Picasa

Our hotel room had the BEST beds!! They were super cozy and had lots of pillows.  Posted by Picasa

At Downtown Disney they have dogs and people and dragons made out of LEGOS!!!! I thought this dog was so fabulous that I kissed him! Posted by Picasa

Mommy and I at the cool Lego store! Posted by Picasa

Daddy and I checkin' out the sights. Posted by Picasa

This is the first time that I have been to Downtown Disney since I have been a walker. It is a terrific place to walk!! Posted by Picasa

Why do you guys ALWAYS want to take my picture!!??? Posted by Picasa

This is Cinderella. I gave her a hug before Daddy got the camera out, and then I picked her nose. She's pretty. Posted by Picasa

The carousel was much better when I sat on Daddy's arm, rather than on that weird horse. I didn't love the carousel, but it was okay. Posted by Picasa

Is this thing stopping yet? Posted by Picasa

After a fun day at Downtown Disney, I was tired out!!!!! Posted by Picasa

After we got back from Orlando, we went to see Gigi and Doobie. I rode on Lizzie's rocking horse.  Posted by Picasa

Quackbooking Scrapbooking

We have had a full day already today, in Orlando! This morning we went and checked out Mimi's booth at the Scrapbook Expo. Already in the first hour or so, she seemed to be having some good sales, and my dad said it has continued throughout the day. Hooray!!!! (Although I must admit that MY highlight of the Expo is the booth where everything is a DOLLAR!!) Then we went to The Peabody Hotel. . . .they have this crazy tradition with some ducks that apparently live in their own suite upstairs, and come down the elevator every day to their fountain in the lobby. There they lounge and swim throughout the day, until they march their way back down the red carpet and up the elevator to go back "home" for the night. SO we went and saw the big processional of ducks as they came down for the day. HILAROUS. It is SO funny. The ducks come bookin' it down the carpet with people all around taking their picture. Then they munch on duck food in the fountain, like they haven't eaten in days. Bryce made his little quack quack sign for the ducks and we took lots of photos. After a nap we had lunch at Bahama Breeze with a dear friend from Kissimmee, and THEN walked around a mall that used to have FAO Schwartz. . . .it would have been Bryce's first trip to the World's Biggest Toystore. . .but it is closed for renovations. RATS! Currently, Bryce is running around the hotel suite getting out some energy after being trapped in his stroller or carseat a lot of the day. I will post some pictures after we get home on Sunday!
