Karate belt test!

Tonight Bryce tested for his white/yellow stripe belt! He did great!!! He did all of his forms, and broke a board. He is SO happy!!! :)

Here he is doing a practice kick, just before breaking the board.

Doing his board break. . . .

Bowing with Master Johnson....
Getting his new belt!

After that, we celebrated with dinner and frozen yogurt. (It's been a seriously sugar-filled week!)

Board Break Clinic

Tonight Bryce got to break his first board in karate!  He broke two boards, one with each of his teachers.  He did great! (I think he was a little surprised that he could do it!)

Three weeks to go!

Three weeks left of school.
Karate twice a week.
Ducks who've taken up residence in our yard.
Scooter rides.
Warm weather.
Tanner says "dinosaur" now, instead of "dine-door" I'm not so happy about that!
Yesterday I went on a field trip with Bryce's class. We didn't lose anyone - success!
That's the scoop around here!

Our karate kid

Today, Bryce had an introductory karate lesson. We've been talking about it off and on for a while, and last weekend Bryce decided he'd like to try it out. We visited a place earlier in the week, and we all hated it. (Yucky facility, unprofessional staff who didn't do much to make us feel welcome, and left us lost and uninformed, etc etc) Today we visited a new place, and from the minute we walked in, I kept saying to Eric, "This is SO much better!!!!" Bryce got to meet one on one with an instructor, rather than being thrown to the karate wolves, and he was super excited. He'll go back for his first group class next week, and we'll have two weeks to decide if he wants to stick with it. (I think he will!)
