Tanner's first field trip!

Tanner had his first field trip yesterday, and I was able to join them on their outing to a church pumpkin patch not far from our church/preschool. The kids had a science lesson about pumpkins (and they got to feel the squishy goop inside of a pumpkin.) Then they listened to some pumpkin stories, and did a 5 Little Pumpkins craft. Before leaving the patch, each child picked out their own pumpkin, that they'll paint at school next week. We also played on the church playground and had a picnic lunch while we were there. Riding on the bus was one of the highlights though! Tanner sat with his best buddy, Gavin.

This is Tanner's class, with their teacher, Mrs. Roxie.

Bryce's Boosterthon Fun Run

Bryce ran in the Boosterthon Fun Run at school today! Thank you so much to everyone who pledged money for his run! He gets SO excited about this event every year! He won some pretty great prizes for collecting pledges, and he worked hard at today's event! (It was HOT!) And the bonus. .  .lots of new books and resources for his classroom library, thanks to the money collected!

Cool and clean before the race. . .

 Woohoo!

 Fast as a flash!

"Are you seriously still taking pictures of me running in circles?"

Completed all his laps! The teachers keep count of the kids' laps, by marking off the numbers on their shirts as they come around each time.  I think the smiley faces mean that he finished all 35. (And then he kept on going after that!)

First Day of 3rd grade!

It's BACK TO SCHOOL for this kid. Third grade. Seriously. Third grade sounds awfully OLD. I'm not sure how I feel about this!!!!
We've gotten GREAT responses from some of our teacher friends, and past teachers, when they found out who B's teacher is, so we feel really good, and we think it's going to be a terrific year!

I think it's going to be rough on Tanner this year, because the two of these boys, (although they fight ALL the time) have spent so much time together this summer. Tanner is used to having B around all the time.

The final days of 2nd grade!!

It's official! Bryce completed the second grade!!!! I was able to go celebrate at his class party yesterday, for his cowboy camp-out celebration. The kids made s'mores and trail mix, did a firefly craft, and went on a "bear hunt".
Here is B with his sweet pal, Emma. They've been in the same class since Kindergarten, and every summer now, Emma's mom and I cross our fingers, say a prayer and hold our breath as we wait to see if they'll be together again!!

Today was the official last day - a half day, and then Emma came home for the afternoon to play.  We went to Wendy's for celebratory Frosty's.

Here it is....the last lunchbox of the year!!!

In the morning carline - for the last time till fall! (Yes, we were stopped when I took this pic!!)

2nd grade award ceremony

Last week of school! Bryce is about to be a second grader no more!
Today was his awards ceremony at school. 2nd grade is the first grade to have an award ceremony, so it was a big deal for the kids!!!

Here are Eric and Tanner, waiting for the ceremony to begin. (Oh - and Tanner's baby. Who at last discussion, is named Watermelon. Yes - Watermelon.)

Bryce received 2 awards. . .the first is a Citizenship award. He got a blue ribbon!

The second award is his All A Honor Roll, for the whole year! Go Bryce! :)
He received a little trophy, complete with his name engraved on it.

Congratulations Bryce, we are SO proud of you!!!

Evening of the Arts

Last night Bryce participated in the Evening of the Arts at school.  He played the xylophone, for a second grade singing performance, and we were able to look at some of his artwork on display.

And of course, we were able to come home with his artwork framed, as part of a school fundraiser. Framed and ready for the wall - he is so proud!

{FYI - He told me that this picture isn't of himself and a friend. It's just two kids playing basketball.}

It's hard to believe he only has 18 school days left. YIKES. I better start gearing up for summer activities to keep these children busy!  We have some travel plans in the works, as well as continued karate lessons, and probably quite a few trips to the beach and pool!

Boosterthon Fun Run!

First of all, big big thanks to everyone who donated pledges to Bryce's school, during the Boosterthon Fun Run!  Bryce looks SO forward to this fundraiser.  He loves earning the prizes for getting pledges, and he LOVES the run.  The Boosterthon team makes this SUCH a fun event, and he woke up SUPER EXCITED about it today! Eric, Tanner, and I went to cheer him on, and we took LOTS of pictures!
Here he is, in the middle of the crowd, waiting to go out on the field.

Tanner, watching the action.

Off on his way! Run, Bryce, Run!

As the kids finish each lap, the teachers mark it off on the back of their shirts.

Sweaty head!

This is Bryce's pal Emma. They are two peas in a pod :)

I don't know what this move is. . .exhaustion maybe???

Wooohoo!

High-fivin' Daddy!

Tanner and I watching the action!

Families are invited to join in the victory lap at the end! :)

After the run, we picked up Subway, and met Bryce for lunch in the cafeteria. They have a special section with tables for families to come have lunch with their kids.

Tonight we go back AGAIN, for Open House, and we'll see what ELSE Bryce has been up to this school year! :)

back to school! 2nd grade!!!!!

He got up and out the door like a champ today! We walked in to school with Bryce today, and got him safely settled in his new class.  His best friend, Emma, is in his class, which we are THRILLED about. It's a small class - only 17 kids so far, and one teacher. (Much better than last year's 36 kids and 2 teachers!)  And Bryce thinks it's pretty big stuff, that his class is on the second story.  No more first floor with Kindergarten and First grades!!! We are hopeful and encouraged that it's going to be a GREAT year.  His teacher has been teaching for 22 years, and she loves second grade.  I am going to be one of her room moms this year, so hopefully I'll be able to be in the classroom every so often!

Here's the big second grader!

Just like last year, Tanner will want HIS backpack every day, as well as his lunchbox, packed with fruit snacks and a Capri Sun to drink.  He busted into his fruit snacks on the way home this morning, after we dropped B off.  Silly little boy!

I think he was DONE with photo ops at this point!

Tanner didn't want to miss out on the chalkboard prop!

Here is Bryce in his new classroom, next to his desk.

HAPPY BACK TO SCHOOL DAY!
