Just a little snippet of who The Tan Man is at three-years-old. . .

Tanner with one of his new birthday presents! (And the box from another present behind him!) |
3-year-old checkup:
38 1/2 inches tall (he's grown 4 inches this year! 50-75th percentile)
31 pounds (25-50th percentile)
He was a champ at the doctors office today. He was friendly and talked to Dr. Hardman about garbage trucks, and fire trucks and he was super cooperative. He didn't even cry when he got his flu mist.
Things he says:
"sometimes-not-sometimes" (He says this when explaining why some days he like craisins, but some days he does not. Or why sometimes he's willing to say some cute thing one day, but not the next day.)
"cover me uppppp" This is what I hear four or five times each naptime and bedtime. . .and in the middle of the night once or twice. we bargain, we plead, and we encourage him to cover himSELF up, and to stop calling us in. . .but it doesn't usually work. ;) and in conjunction with that, I always get
"stay my door" because he thinks that i stay by his door every time he falls asleep. so I tell him that i will, as long as he lays quietly. . . .and then i tiptoe back to my bedroom! SHHHH! Don't tell him!
"Bubba tupid" (translation: Brother Stupid) anytime Bryce does something mean or hurtful.
"Shabba-dabba. . .No shabba-dabba" Tanner has been saying this since AGES ago. He actually doesn't say it as much as he used to. And none of us knows what it means. If you ask him "What's Shabba-dabba?" he'll say "Mommy's shabba-dabba!" It's adorable!
Tanner loves:
anything that Bryce is playing with. Monkey-see-monkey-do is what we are TOTALLY dealing with in this household. (Good, bad, AND ugly.) He LOVES garbage trucks, fire trucks, space shuttles, and dump trucks. He loves dogs, and Goldfish crackers, and strawberries (when the doctor asked him what he likes to eat, he said "Strawberries") He LOVES lemonade, and always asks for it when we go out to eat! And he LOVES the new car - he says, "I love the new car because we can watch tv alllll day long!" (But it is reserved for special occasions and long car rides, so I don't know WHY he thinks that!)
He loves to watch Poppy Cat, Chuggington, and Fireman Sam on TV. He loves trains, but not as much as Bryce did at this age. He's too busy being consumed with garbage trucks!
He is super independent. He wants to put the butter on his toast himself. And turn the light switches on himself.
He says, "all by myself!!" or "me do it!"
And he loves to "help" wake up Bryce in the morning!!
The other day while I was doing some cooking, I gave Tanner some dry rice and bowls and he got to work making his own concoction, scooping, dumping, (spilling) and trying to put uncooked rice into the cupcake frosting I was working on. He loved it, and it kept him busy for a LONG time.
